A few years ago I noticed that at this time of year, the Historic Core gets inundated with small, swarming birds, probably on a migration path stop on their way southward. I posted a video a while back of them flying around the Rosslyn sign, and that was shot in fall 2006.
The 2007 migration is no different, but tonight the number of birds was amazing. There were thousands of them flying over Fifth Street. I used the better camera to shoot a 45 second clip (10 MB QuickTime file). Note the man-made bird near the end.
Note: I removed the YouTube clip because the quality was too low.

hey bert those were BATS not birds birds can not fly like that !!!!
it was some sight so many i watched for some time -WILL
Not sure if we are talking about the same thing, but what I saw were certainly birds. I got a close up look at many of them literally inches from my face.
I actually wish they were bats, that would have been more amazing.
